This has been a great burner for me, one of the few that I could get to burn CDs at high speeds with no errors. It's labelled as 52x and can actually perform at those speeds. The colour and durability of the drive is also good. It's a nice black, and the drive feels tough and not flimsy. The DVD capabilities work nicely, smooth and fast. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a burner and enjoys watching movies on the computer.      » READ MORE

I am also a big fan of LG products. From my experience, their quality and prices are hard to beat. As for this drive, it burns CDs quickly and smoothly and the finished discs work perfectly. Very nice drive.

I am pleased with this drive considering my previous DVD-Rom would stall spin a CD several times before reading it-none of that here. Excellent speed to, although I haven't tried writing anything with it. DVD prog. that comes with it is good too, nothing special. It was a bit of a hassle to get my rig to recognize it though, wasn't to impressed about that considering it's an optical drive. Others have been much easier to install.      » READ MORE

Its your basic CD burner does the job at a good speed... doesnt skipp during burn or read... DVD dosent skipp either. Its nice having the DVD-rom becasue most programs now adays comes on DVD.      » READ MORE

I guess I got the dud. Purchased it just before leaving for university. Worked Ok for a few months and for the past year it's caused me nothing but anguish. 4 out of 5 times it won't detect a CD. Gets about half way thru a movie then glitches up and stops completely (aggravating when you're at the best song on a music dvd and it stops). I have to fight with it to get the thing the open (opens halfway and closes again, very repeatedly). And when I finally get a CD into the thing, it opens unexpectedly with the CD still spinning full speed. Not to mention the few times a day it randomly opens on its own, regardless of what I'm doing. I don't know why I put up with it for so long (oh yeah, cause I'm a poor student). I had two. The second one sounded like an airplane flying thru my room.       » READ MORE

This is a solid product. Lets say the Cd-Burner is the cake, its great, burners really fast, with low margin of error. Then the icing for your cake is the DVD combo part. If your TV or DVD is already in use, pop open the drive, throw your fav movie in and you are off to the races!       » READ MORE

I've used every sort of optical drive and this is one of my favorites. A very reasonable price for a solidly built drive that works with a wide selection of media. Never yet burned a coaster except when using ink-jet printable media (that has crash two drives of mine from different makers). I recently had my last LG drive die after some years of labor and replaced it with a more expensive drive; it lasted one day before I returned it for the 4521B and have been burning happily ever since. I wish it had Lightscribe included but I use my Benq1655 for that though the Benq drive is the slowest at ripping audio that I have ever encountered (eight minutes to rip a CD?!)      » READ MORE
