In addition, Serial ATA maintains 100% compatibility with today's software, meaning that no changes are necessary in existing operation systems or drivers and is designed to offer the same cost effectiveness as Parallel ATA, offering the highest performance at the lowest cost.

I ordered this to try and get my DVD-RW up and working, since my secondary IDE channel apcked it in. After I got it, it wouldn't recognize the DVD drive in BIOS, and if I choose to continue, windows wouldn't boot. I have a spare IDE 40G hard drive handy, so I tried that, and it didn't work either. I RMAed it, and the second one wasn't recognized it BIOS, but it did boot into Windows XP. The drives weren't found in Windows XP either. I took this one back to NCIX, and the tech confirmed that it didn't work. I got my money back.       » READ MORE

I've ordered this about 6 months ago but did not get the chance to try it until 2 days ago (was taking the chance that this will work). I used this on an old maxtor 160gb 8mb-cache ide drive. Make sure that you also connect the molex power connector to the ide drive. Used maxblast4 to clone my primary drive, also a maxtor. Was able to boot and run windows xp from the "converted" SATA drive. This now serves as my backup drive for testing changes before applying to my primary drive. It's a good solution if you have old ide drives that you want to connect as sata, but you won't get nearly the same performance as a sata drive.      » READ MORE

This product is difficult to use does not connect like it should. When everything is connected like the instuctions say it still doesnt work right... makes the comp think the adapted HD is the primary HD.

When first got this, having difficulties to have this device to work. Finally figure out the right orientation, the small 4 pin power connector and the large 4 pin molex connector on the HD should be on the same side, and the HD must be jumperred as master.       » READ MORE
