As a computer technician I’ve built several systems now and have had the chance of working with many types of speakers. And these ones are great… the 7 “satellite” speakers can be configured in any order and are “dummy” speakers with varying lengths of cable. (Unlike the Arena X 530’s which have a specific/color coated plug). The sound quality is amazing and with in a few moments I had sound screaming out. (with in a few more seconds I had a unhappy neighbor screaming out =-) ). Plugged into an Asus M2N-E the “smart jack’s” picked up the speakers beautifully. Unlike my X530 which it just didn’t like. And for the rather cost effective pricing makes these an excellent choice for a small HTPC or a medium to high-end gaming unit. The “remote” that comes with this is 1 wired peace and has master volume as well as bass boost and a headphone jack. And in the words of BAD COMPANY The music's so loud, you can hear the sound Reaching for the sky, churnin' up the ground.

Extremely differentiated music quality that I hav not seen from any Logitech speakers. I was amazed with the clear pitches and everything. A true sound entertainment for 1 year.

Okay off the top these are not for the audiophile. They are also not for those looking to blow their eardrums. This is a decent 7.1 setup aimed at a low budget user in a small environment. You can still get the feel of sounds around you under 50 watts per channel. A branch does not have to break at ear splitting db for you to realize someone is behind you to the left. This replaces an old and inexpensive Altec Lansing 2.1 system that had separate on/off, volume, treble and base controls. This system combines the volume and on/off control so that you must reset volume every time you turn it on. It does provide a separate base control but no treble. Another common beef is the wiring. Some of the speaker wires are a little short and I had to buy 2x12' m/f and 1x6' m/f just to fit everything into my 11'x9' room. I did not want the wires to be streched out at angles across walls and the speakers are at the ceiling aimed down at my chair. The other wiring issue is the connection from the sub/amp to the computer. The provided 4to3 cable seems to work for certain sound cards but not for some onboard audio like mine. Remember I am not seeking audiophile quality from these speakers as that is what my separate sound system is for in another larger room. This is why I opted for onboard 8 channel sound and an inexpensive set of speakers. I feel my money is better spent on items such as graphics and processing capabilities (see my comments elsewhere). I received 2.1 sound until I acquired additional cabling (2x6' m/m) to get the side and back speakers functioning. The option of attaching a secondary input device is handy and another m/m cable was used here to connect an older computer into the system.

I like these a lot. The wire lengths are sufficient for my setup. The wired remote comes with a double-sided sticker which I stuck on the side of my monitor. The 7.1 is great for watching DVD. Well worth the $100 on sale.
