Old family snapshots, your personal documents - whatever you're scanning or copying, the streamlined CanoScan LiDE 25 Color Image Scanner is a snap to use. Three easy buttons automate the entire process, letting you scan, send images to your printer for copying, or prepare attachments for an e-mail. Just position your original and select the use for the image; in approximately 16 seconds your scan can be previewed on your monitor. For added convenience, one simple cable provides both power and a USB connection, reducing the number of wires around your desk. This efficient scanner also delivers high-quality scanning performance. You'll see beautiful results, with a maximum 1200 x 2400 color dpi resolution (software enhanced resolution: 19,200 color dpi) and 48-bit color depth, for over 281 trillion possible colors. The LiDE 25 scanner comes with powerful software applications including our CanoScan Toolbox 4.9, which allows you to scan documents and then create and manipulate PDFs.
Extra convenience comes standard.
For larger projects, Multi-Scan Mode lets you scan multiple images simultaneously, rather than one by one. Just arrange them on the glass and select "Multi-Scan" - that's it! For convenience, each image is automatically saved as an individual file. The LiDE 25 scanner also comes with Quick Automatic Retouching and Enhancement (QARE) technology, which reduces much of the dust and scratches that may appear on your older originals. It even autocorrects to help with graininess, picture fading and improper backlighting. After enhancement you can archive these beautiful images and then e-mail them or print them for family and friends. Get complete scans of bulky originals.
The unique Z-Lid™ expansion top even delivers high-quality scans of bulky items such as personal notebooks. It lifts approximately 1 inch vertically then lies down flat on the item you are scanning, for a clear, complete scan.

just hook it up with the usb cable provided and install the driver/softwares on the cd and it works with photoshop cs3 in Vista64.

This is overall a very good scanner. It does perfectly what it is meant for. The speed of the scanner and the covered area are decent. The possibility of raising the top of the scanner by one inch to copy bigger books is also a good feature. The software provided with it offers many functionalities and settings. However, it is a bit noisy, but you rapidly get over it at this price.

I bought one of these about a year and a half ago and it's been used for occasional scanning ever since. Being USB powered it uses no electrical outlet and it's small enough and light enough to be carried in a bag with a laptop, good for scanning documents at a library. It doesn't have USB 2.0 so it's a bit slow for high res colour scans, but otherwise, I've been very satisfied with this scanner.

I bought this canon scanner as my old canon broke. Works really well. Standard style scanner. The only Special thing that I really like is the 1 wire feature, I hate messing with too many wires/connections.

I had to buy a new scanner because my old one had some issues under vista, and it was getting pretty sad anyways. I picked this up for cheap, and made it run. I grabbed the new drivers off Canon's site, and they all worked quite well. This scanner is great for documents and the like, but it's a bit slow for higher resolution color photos - it's only got a USB 1.1 interface.

Good little scanner that goes a long way... Scans very easily out of the box with the CD for those on Mac or Windows... Should (i think) also be compatible with Linux as higher model (35? if i remember correctly) seems to be supported. (but don't quote me on this ;-)

Amazing scanner. It only needs it's current from the USB cable, so that makes 1 less cable which is really why I first bought it, but then I see this is a quality scanner, which can get up to 1600 DPI, but be warned... it makes a LOT of noise!

I bought this for my home.We have a couple ofsystems all around the house so wanted something light and portable.This servers the purpose well.It does its job really well.No complaints.If u want some high end featuers u wont find in this though

Overall, this lightweight scanner is a good buy. It works well with older systems and with no power requirement (beyond USB), it can be used in portable situations working with a laptop on battery power. The scanned image quality was excellent and the bundled software was also very good. The OCR software provided was very effective at scanning and decoding scanned text documents although it is not the "full" version. "Copier" mode and "PDF" mode were very good. Although the colour scanning was quite slow, black and white scanning is very fast and certainly allows many pages to be scanned in little time. Hard to find a better priced scanner with this level of quality.
