I've been using this router for a bit less than a week and it's working wonderfully. I didn't bother using Linksys firmware for longer than it took me to click on the update Firmware button Tomato works great. My Wii, PS3, and Itouch have no problem connecting despite having the signal go through a couple of walls or floor/ceiling.

Be careful flashing - use the micro version first if you are planning on getting DD-WRT for this router. I rendered mine unusable for a while but fixed it with TFTP. All in all this is an excellent router and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a cheap, reliable home networking solution.

If you intend to use VOIP and do a lot of P2P filesharing, you will need a router capable of reliable routing of many connections and high-quality QoS.

As long as you don't care for 'N', this is the best router one can get - assuming you're going to flash it with one of the excellent 3rd party firmware. I'm VoIP head, so I use Tomato as best choice for traffic control (QoS). Can be used as access point for non-WiFi enabled devices, wireless bridge for two networks, etc.

Great little router, it used to be very expensive a few years ago but now it's price been dropped so I decided to buy one. It's working awesome so far, better then expected. Range has been great and if needed, I have a spare 7dBi antenna.

setup was quite easy and is all done via the CD. it would have been nice if a manual was included, though.

I got rid of my old SMC Barricade a couple of months ago because it refused to remain connected to any wireless device for more than a couple hours. The Linksys WRT54GL is simply awesome in comparison. I have not felt the need to unleash the extra functionality with third-party firmware, but I have it on good authority that it is fairly easy to do and extremely useful for some people.

I have had this router for over a year now, replaced a D-Link that was locking up periodically and I have had no complaints so far. I was a bit nervous about flashing it with the DD-WRT firmware, but all went smooth and I'm happy I did. The user interface is neat and configuration is easy and intuitive, this router can run a few nice utilities itself after being flashed (SSH, web access, etc). And community support is pretty good, never had any problems getting anything working with it.

i've used this for about a week now using the latest stock firmware. It hasn't disconnected, the reception is great. Overall, great product for the price. I would recommend it for anyone who doesn't need Wireless N, but need a solid router for basic everyday computing.

Great router if you unleash the power by flashing to DD-WRT or Tomato firmware. DD-WRT has more networking features but Tomato has a very good built-in bandwidth monitoring system. Extremely stable with third party firmware.
