Network Card Designed for Gaming

Killer NIC is the Gaming Network Card from Bigfoot Networks that accelerates your game data, smoothes out your online gaming experience and gives you the competitive edge.

Killer reduces the lag and network latency that often occurs in high action, interactive MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play) and FPS (First Person Shooter) games over the internet  such as Battlefield 2, World of Warcraft, Counterstrike and others. No special patches, system manipulation, or game integration required – just plug it in and start playing.

Powered by LLR™ Technology, the Killer NIC is optimized to get data to and from online games faster:

·         Prioritizes game network traffic above all other network activity on the system

·         On-board 400MHz Network Processing Unit offloads network processing from CPU improving FPS

·         Lowers in-game Ping with game data delivered faster than with standard NICs

·         Run gamer utility apps without affecting game performance (bit torrent, firewall, others)

  • Plug-and-Play with Windows® XP or Windows® Vista with no special game patches

Killer In-Game Experience

Massive Multiplayer Online Role Play

Killer works plug-and-play with any massively-multiplayer online game. From Second Life to EverQuest to World of Warcraft, the Killer NIC works right out of the box with your favorite game –no hassles, no modifications.

All your favorite zones load faster and feel smoother - you can run, fight, and make your way through crowded areas quicker leaving you more time to adventure.

First-Person Shooter

All FPS games work with Killer - no modifications or manipulation required. Every moving ‘thing’ in an FPS is a big chunk of network data: artillery, bombs, machine guns, Titans, smoke grenades, aircraft, other players, and most importantly - you.  Killer helps your online gaming PC handle the load by getting all this traffic out of the way of the graphics card and CPU so your computer can give you more frames per second when you need them the most.

Features

Prioritizes Game Network Traffic

·         Gets data to and from your game faster because Killer’s LLR (Lag and Latency Reduction) Technology ensures your gaming data is prioritized above all other network traffic.

Offloads Network Processing from the CPU

·         Experience smoother game play and boasted frame-rates during intense action as all network processing is offloaded to Killer’s 400MHz NPU (Network Processing Unit). This ensures that your
networking gets out of the way of your graphics and CPU.

Lowers in-game Ping

·         See your enemies a split-second sooner, and get your mouse-clicks to the server faster because Killer bypasses Windows OS (XP and Vista) network stack to save precious milliseconds, giving you the competitive edge when facing your enemy.

Run gamer utility apps without affecting game performance (Bit Torrent downloads, firewalls, others)

·         Run Killer’s Firewall and Torrent clients on the 400MHz NPU instead of your CPU, all without affecting your gameplay. The Flexible Network Architecture allows your game to run smoothly because your applications no longer need to run on your CPU.  With a USB drive attached directly to your gaming NIC, you can even download while you game because the files never touch your system.

Plug and Play.

·         Compatible with both Windows® XP and Windows® Vista,  requires no special patches, system manipulation, or game integration required – just plug it in and start playing.

Benefits

Smoother Gameplay when it Matters Most

·         Killer boosts your frame rate by getting networking out of the way of your graphics card and CPU, especially during moments of intense action.

Faster Game Data

·         Game network packets are prioritized so they get to and from your game faster.

Improved Responsiveness

·         Bypassing Windows allows Killer to reduce your in-game ping, giving you the edge you need in online gaming.

Comment: A generally positive review of the very controversial NIC with caveats surrounding its high price. They compare it with the NForce onboard NIC, would've been nice if they'd compare it to a PCI or PCIE NIC from Intel or DLink, but its the best review out there at the moment.

Its a great card for the hard-core FPS gamer. However, for other uses you are probably better off getting a cheaper Intel gigabit network card as opposed to this one. I am quite surprised that the linux drivers are of very poor quality thusfar (crashes) since the board has an embedded version of linux. Still aside from the gaming crowd, its a great toy for anyone who likes to play around with a small embedded network gateway plugged into their computer.      » READ MORE
