I purchased it at a very good price on sale.       » READ MORE

I bought this unit after checking the DD-WRT website and saw that this unit offered more than other units in the same price range such as the Linksys WRT54GL. After having tested both the WRT54GL and the WL-500 Premium, I can say that the performance are, in my opinion and from experience, superior on the ASUS. It is not worth upgrading from the Linksys WRT54GL but otherwise pick this unit over the Linksys WRT54GL.      » READ MORE

I purchased this router because it was highly recommended on the dd-wrt forums. After installing the custom firmware, I'm able to used this router to it's full potential. I've had no issues with wireless signal. The included USB port is useful for sharing external media on the network. I've noticed a slight overhead with downloads, however most routers have the same issue.      » READ MORE

Bought this for $76 here in NCIX, they had a diff SKU for $73 but NCIX Customer service was too slow to change my order. Definitely much better than usual WRT54GL (Linksys), since it has USB ports. You can plug in external HDD, Webcam, printers, etc. Be sure to use DD-WRT or OpenWrt though. Much cheaper/energy efficient than using a PC to do your downloads. Great Linux device!

I bought this based on a number of reviews on the 'net, plus the fact that ASUS generally makes very good quality stuff. This seems to be no exception. It does the job, and seems to be a tad faster - not on throughput (that depends on your ISP); it seems to connect faster, and it seems to be more responsive to changes. I just wish the firmware was a bit better - there are quite a few examples of poor English, and trying to figure out how to set up some basic stuff seems a bit overly convoluted. Partly it's because of the security settings. But overall, I am quite happy with it.      » READ MORE

I bought this for a VOIP setup, and I must say that it's the best deal you can get for such a versatile router.       » READ MORE

This router is more expensive then others and there is a definite reason for it. It has 2 usb ports which you can use for a usb printer and hard drive, or 2 hard drives if you use the router for downloading files and as a network backup. Right now I'm using it in bridge mode to connect to the wireless in my house instead of my flaky onboard wireless card. I'm likely going to install one of the open source firmware's on it later and spend a lot of time tinkering with it.      » READ MORE

I bought this after reading numerous reviews and have to say I'm not at all unhappy with this purchase. It does exactly what it says it does and more. If you're in the market for a full featured router that does more then most, yet don't want to pay the big bucks, then this is for you.      » READ MORE
