Adding 7 usb ports allows me to keep my motherboard a little longer (still using socket 939), and this hub has no problems with recognizing devices. All devices work from usb hard drives to game pads and I still have some ports to spare. The vertical ports are nice and are spaced well, allowing for a wide range of devices to fit.

I have used three other USB ports in the past, and they either stopped working, or they were half-working. The build quality was not really strong either. Of course, it's probably because I did not want to spend too much on such a thing. Well, after all, it seems like USB hubs is one of those things that you have to spend more to get quality. It's not worth trying to save here... This Belkin is the one I bought, and I'm quite happy with it. It's being used on an iMac (with only 3 USB ports, it gets filled quite easily - thus the need for a hub), and it has given us no problem in 6 months of use.

plugged it in, and everything works - wireless keyboard, ipod, ps2 controller adapter, printer, etc. exactly what I was looking for when I bought it; a bit pricey, but definitely a good investment.
