Awesome OS for those who want to have a extra computer to store files on. Backs up your computers nightly as has software redundancy that can use any capacity HDD you can throw at it.

This product on the right harware kicks some serious NAS butt (mine is a BOXD945GCLF Atom mobo, 2Gb Patriot RAM, 500GB WD Green Drive, Apex MI-008 case, Skythe 40mm fan). The Add-In's available are incredible, the versatility of this OS unmatched for the pure novice. I have 2 home computers and an xBox 360 and WHS is a great central point for backups, photos, videos and music streaming - and I was able to figure this all out with little effort (for some advanced functions sites like mshws.com and wegotserved.co.uk provide awesome articles, how-tos & forums). I can't beleive more people haven't heard of this.

This is a very good server OS. Easy to install. Make sure you install Powerpack 1 right after the installation finishes; it will give you the 64-bit connector program. It is located in the Software folder.

This is a great buy for those who have more than one computer and the automatic daily backup is a gift of god in case a computer fail. With the included restore media, it's a breeze to restore a computer as long as you have a good network to sustain files transfer. If you have lots of media like pictures, movies and DVD, this is also a excellent way to share it across your whole network. Users management is very easy and shared folders works like any normal folder, great to move files around the network.

I installed this on an old box at an office location to back up their four computers, and it works exactly as specified. It's got backups for the past month for all of the machines, and they can share their files around easily. I've got it set up with remote desktop (and tweaked the firewall permissions a bit) so that I can remotely administer the box if I need to, as well.

Before buying please make sure that the bug described in KB946676 has been resolved. I lost a huge portion of my data because of this issue. It is scheduled to be resolved in June or July of 2008. Please note before this happened I was amazed by the product and its capabilities and that as long as this huge issue has been resolved I highly recommend this product.

I built a very low end system and it is now sitting in my furnace room on a shelf running 24/7. The hardware installation and WHS setup was extremely easy. This definitely is a very user friendly system. I look at all my home computers (5 of them) and am amazed that each one has a list of automatic backups for the last 2 weeks.

Good, highly recommended as a centralized file server\print server for a small office that doesn't need Exchange email type functionality. Even works great for remote offices that type into an AD Domain. Workstations added to an AD domain can be a part of a home server system as well without any conflicts.

This is very easy to configure software, and offers so many benifits. Central storage, remote access to files, headless operation (no monitor or keyboard required) Reqular backups with shadow caching, System recovery, Stable core OS Server 2003 R2 based. Third party developers ahve been making lots of wonder addins to make the experiance even better. I have been beta testing this since it was first available.
