DIGIC III Image Processor With DIGIC III, your images boast superior quality, the camera operates at top efficiency and battery life is enhanced. What’s more, DIGIC III enables Canon’s Face Detection Technology and Red-eye Correction to give you better, more true-to-life people shots. Simply press the Shutter Button halfway down, and the camera automatically pinpoints the faces in the scene and chooses the ideal focus point. The camera controls exposure settings and flash to keep every face looking bright and natural. Red eyes can be corrected during playback. DIGIC III Image Processor
DIGIC III features Face Detection technologies, giving the you best possible results in any shooting situation. Face Detection AF/AE sets the focus point and exposure for the faces of your subjects. Face Detection FE adjusts the flash to correctly illuminate your subject to provide the best balance between your subject and the overall scene, eliminating the common problems of over- and underexposed faces.

Red-eye Correction detects and corrects red-eye during playback. In unusual cases where red-eye is not automatically detected, it can easily be corrected manually during playback mode.
The PowerShot A720 IS features ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto settings that reduce the effects of camera shake and sharpen subjects in low-light situations, giving you greater shooting flexibility.
iSAPS Technology is an entirely original scene-recognition technology developed for digital cameras by Canon. Using an internal database of thousands of different photos, iSAPS works with the fast DIGIC III Image Processor to improve focus speed and accuracy, as well as exposure and white balance. Upgraded from a 2 mega pixel kodak camera and blown away with this new camera. It is also smaller than my old kodak to boot. In continuous shooting mode you can pretty much take a photo every second when using the ocz 150x sd card. Figured this is a good general purpose camera for the price until one can afford a dslr. I think this camera has the most zoom without going into the 300ish range of superzooms. Because at that price point you might as well get an entry level dslr for a little bit more money.

Bought this before a trip to Europe last fall, wanting the easy to replace AA batteries, rather than different chargers required for different countries. Small enough to slip in a pocket, but not too small to be able to hang onto easily. I got a small case, easy to strap on your belt or sling over a shoulder under a jacket. I was very impressed by the quality of the outdoor shots, indoor and low-light not quite up to the same standard, but still good. Flash recovery is fairly slow (as mentioned in other review - 2 AA batteries just aren't that strong). Without the flash, multiple sequence shots are quick. The video is quite good, and basically limited only by your SD card size (although I seem to recall there is a 30 minute limit - I could be wrong). If you want to do extensive editing, be warned it doesn't shoot in RAW format, limited to jpegs. The long optical zoom is nice, and especially effective with the image stabilization, which also works on the video settting. Multiple shooting settings, much like the higher series Canons, including a manual mode. Quick on-screen access to setting changes(ie, ISO, white balance, timer), without having to search through menus.

Great product, this is my third powershot and so far it has to be the best. Excellent zoom and great image stabilization. The screen could be brighter (could not see if image was in focus during macro outdoors on the beach) and the charge rate for the flash could be faster (a drawn back to all cameras with 2xAA batteries) but overall a great camera.
