Overall this is a pretty solid laptop. The big selling points for me were the 7,200 RPM HD, 8600M GT, Core 2 Duo, 17" display and readily available winXP drivers on the Asus forums.

I was in the market for an upgrade from a Dell Inspiron 9300, and settled on the G2S. My first big concern was the Visa only driver support from Asus. I prefer a multi-boot setup, Ubuntu as primary and XP as secondary, but XP had to become Vista. The hard drive it comes with is on the small side (was 160), so I upgraded to a 320GB.
