Movies and music play excellent off this. Works with the 3.5in. 500GB SATA2 Barracuda 7200.11 (ST3500320AS). The LED can be easily unplugged if not desired, but I found that the edge of the front face redirects the light so its never in your eyes when its on your desk. Recently I've noticed that if you leave the power chord plugged in (but switched off) the enclosure doesn't boot up properly afterwards. It might be something to do with it not getting enough power but it takes a couple tries (if not more) to get it going afterwards. The manual or manufacturers website wasn't helpful in trying to determine what the problem was, however its been working alright recently. When I phoned up support they said they would replace it, but it hasn't come down to that yet. This review was modfied by poster j 11-17-08 10:59 PM

No problems with this unit at all other than the abnormally bright LED. Is that really necessary? What's the point? Anyways, i stuck a 1TB Samsung drive in here and it worked great.

I bought it cause I needed to be able to tote files around on an external drive and wanted something a little more cool looking than my older N-Gear silver box. Transfer rates are pretty good, does get a little warm under heavy use. And the LED is way way too bright, though I solved this with a little bit of black electrical tape... (so much for the cool look! :D)

This is a great enclosure for the price. Cheap even when not on sale. The only annoying thing about this enclosure is that the included power cord is a bit short. eSATA isn't a big deal for me. This is a great enclosure made even better by the price.

I've owned a Nexstar enclosure for a few years now, it's been awesome. My friend asked me to build one, so I went with Vantec because I trust their quality, and the CX is no exception. Plus its cheap!

i bought this to use with a spare wd500gb sata hdd i had laying around doing nothing. after formatting to fat32 it works great with the usb port on the phillips dvd player. great buy at sale price, will buy another next they go on sale.

Products sold by NCIXUS.com are covered under a limited 25-day DOA (dead-on-arrival) policy, from the original invoice date, and is subject to the following terms and conditions:
