I bought two of these on sale for $19 along with a couple of Hitachi 500GB Sata2 hard drives. I was pleasantly surprised and very impressed about how easy these things were to put together (after fumbling with a couple of cheap PATA/IDE enclosures before.) The drive easily plugs into a metal chassis and mounts with four screws, slides easily into the case and then you just have to plug in the led light connection and secure with two extranal screws. So far they are quiet. I actually like the blue activity led and the styling.

Got this thing on sale for very cheap! and its great! you get way more than you pay for i must say. The build quality is good and its nice and slim, the led is also very bright. Only problem is it has no fan so your hdd can get rather toasty.

Bought this on sale, have been looking at an external enclosure for a while because I had a 160gb Maxtor laying around. Does the job as supposed, but because the power cable is too short for me, the USB cable has to be in front of my keyboard when I use it, so its not the best. For 18$, really good. At regular price, I would look at something else, but if you need something cheap that does what its supposed to do, you have it here. On a side note, the LED cable was a little hard to connect, to the point that I almost chose to not use it. Thinking again, I jiggled it arround until I managed to connect it. The blue LED is very bright, which is a good thing for me, but couldbe seen as a downsiede.

Very nice hard drive enclosure.Much more durable than some of it's flimsy, aluminum counterparts.Comes with all the cables you will need.Has a cool,bright LED that looks very attractive.Just as reliable as the previous Vantec version.One of the best and highly recommended.

I wanted the cheapest way for external storage and this fits the bill. I currently have a Seagate 250gb SATA I HD working inside. Macbook recognizes it and it currently reformatting one partition to HFS for my Time Machine backups. Remember, you'll need to reformat the partition(s) to FAT32 if you want to read and write between PC's and Macs. Otherwise, NTFS all the way for PCs.

I needed a cheap SATA enclosure for occasional uses so I grabbed this one when it was on sale. I think it was around 20$ and it definitely met my expectations. If you're looking for some nice features (IDE+SATA, extra cooling, etc.) this is not for you but if you just need the basic features it does the job. The only annoying thing is the LED cable which has to be connected while inserting the disk in the enclosure, but it's not that bad.

As promised in the description, easy install, status (power/activity light is really bright and blinding. But this houseing works great a good way to access a SATA harddrive. It's on sale now and i just paid 6$ more for it a few days ago but still a great price at 26$
