With their foot planted firmly on the neck of the competition, the boys in blue are unleashing a killer combo of budget quad cores that make AMD's new Phenom already look dated.
The wait for an affordable 45nm Quad-Core is now over, and the Q9450 promises to become the ultimate choice of the new offerings. It's not much slower than the QX9650, offers 12MB of cache and as expected, has some fantastic overclocking ability. How does 3.44GHz stable sound?

I have this overclocked to 3.2 ghz at stock voltages, 51C at load and still have headroom! It was a struggle to get my Q6600 to 3.2ghz, it took all of five minutes to get this stable. This chip rocks! I am pleased with this purchase.

This works great and is easily OC'd under air or water cooling. Compared the processors above and below this is the most bang for your dollar.

Runs invisibly fast on DFI B.I. P35-T2RL. Seems to run nice and cool as well since the fan never kicks up using Zerotherm CF900.

this CPU is not the best bang for the buck gaming CPU, as most games do not fully utilize multi-threading yet. That said this encode/decode multimedia very fast and folds like a beast.

The ability to overclock this processor gives it comparable speeds to an C2E at a much lower price. This processor speeds through CPU benchmarks and the extra 6 MB of cache makes it faster than the Q9300 at gaming.

I was a little hesitant to buy this chip knowing that Nehalem was coming and that I would need a new chip, MB and RAM if I wanted to upgrade. This chip is so fast at 3.5 though that I couldn't possibly justify spending the money on something faster. I think with the odd GPU upgrade my current setup will last me for at least a few years. Runs much cooler and feels smoother and faster then my Q6600 ever did at 3.4 and it's in a whole different league then the E6750 I had before that.

I upgraded from a Q6600 to this one and im very happy with it. Of course, i had a good price for my Q6600 so it cost me just a few more bucks. I was not able to go more then 3.2 with my Q6600. But with this one im at 3.55ghz and im still be under the reccommand voltage (1.23V). I get a score a bit over P10000 at 3dmark with a 9800gx2 and 4gig of 1066mhz
