What is a Medialess License Kit?
Medialess License Kits (MLKs) let customers activate their full software license for
the preinstalled 2007 Microsoft Office suite simply by entering a product key code.
For customers to be able to have a full software license for preinstalled software,
you must sell them a Medialess License Kit.

What’s Inside a Medialess License Kit?
Microsoft has redesigned the MLK packaging and product key card to clarify for
end-users that no discs are needed to active the full software license. In addition,
the full-color packaging exterior and the included Certificate of Authenticity means
customers know they are receiving genuine software. The new redesign provides
an improved end-user experience.
Each Medialess License Kit contains:
• Plastic credit-card sized product key code card
• Certificate of Authenticity (COA) imprinted on front and back of card
• Instructions on how to activate and obtain back-up media
Which 2007 Office suite Medialess License Kits are available for Office Ready PCs?
Medialess License Kits are to be sold with Office Ready PCs for Microsoft® Office Basic 2007,
Microsoft® Office Small Business 2007 and Microsoft® Office Professional 2007. One image is
preinstalled for all three suites.
How Can Customers Obtain Backup Media for MLKs?
Although the Medialess License Kits do not contain media, customers who purchase 2007 Microsoft Office system software with a new PC are eligible to receive backup media if they purchase the MLK within 90 days of the PC purchase. There are four options for receiving backup media:

Instructions on how to order backup media are printed on the Medialess License Kit.
End users can create their own backup media if they have Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, or Windows Vista Ultimate.
End users may obtain a backup copy of the 2007 Office system from www.microsoft.com/office/backup/.
System builders can create a recovery image on the hard drive.
