Limited by the 1.6GHz Atom CPU and Windows Vista Home Premium it’s a jack of all trades, but master of none and we struggle to think of a situation where it holds a real advantage over specifically targeted devices.

I recently upgrade my wifi network to Asus RT-N16. I relocated the router to another room. Once I moved the router my wifi connection with the Acer Revo became "limited connection". I spent a few days trying to figure it out if it was the Asus RT-N16 or the Acer Revo. The conclusion is the Acer Revo built-in wifi is worthless. The Acer Revo detects the wifi signals and it will indicate good signal strength but can't connect to internet.

Everything about this box is excellent. Immediately installed Ubuntu 9.10 and everything was configured and worked properly. Video had to be enabled simply by enabling the Advanced Effects in Appearance and it'll ask to install NVIDIA drivers. Currently using as a development machine. Works fine. Very portable. Accessories are nice

I'm currently using this as an HTPC with Windows 7. I followed the lead of the other postings in blowing away the Vista install with all the bloatware. The computer does seem to be running a bit smoother with Win7. I did download some 1080p sample clips and they were stuttering a bit under Vista, but haven't bothered again. My TV is a 768p so it really doesn't affect me right now. Given that others seem to have success with this, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

I blew away the bloatware this thing comes with out of the box, and immediately loaded up Windows 7.

I bought this PC for my HDTV. Right out of the box, the Acer Aspire Revo took two bloody hours to complete its first boot. I wondered why it took so long. Then I found out: it was taking its sweet time pre-installing a horde of bloatware that I need like a hole in the head. As soon as Windows Vista finally finished "preparing your desktop", which took an eternity minus one second, I was greeted by anti-virus offers, ISP offers, data encryption offers, you name it, all of them after my credit card information. I then have to spend the next hour uninstalling everything, then several additional hours updating Windows. This experience has reminded me why I have been using Mac OS X for the past 5 years.

Bought this as a net top to do dual duty as HTPC and for the kids to play simple games/Internet. So far, apart from very minor annoyance of uninstalling a bunch of share/bloatware, it's worked pretty well.

I purchased this to replace my aging XBMC box. I'm starting to use more HD content and it's aging hardware just cannot keep up.
