i got this for free from my uncles pc that hit the dust in a flood (doesnt sound right but you get the idea) i was using it for extra storage but then i found out it slows down my pc to have 2 IDE devices on one wire if there used at the same time so i took it out but its a dam reliable drive and survived a full out flood so im proud of it

Western digital has never failed for me and this one has been installed into a 2500+ computer. It's not noisy at all and the 40gb capacity is good enough for using as a secondary storage or as a main drive for your operating system.

If you need a small HD this one will suit you ok, but consider going for a larger one. As for the WD brand, I've had nothing but good experiences with them. I've also used the 5400RPM 40GB drive, works well. Go for the 8mb cache model though for sure!

this harddrive is obviosuly one of the best, seeing as its WD's caviar. i bought it recently and put it into my comp, replacing my old maxtor one that just seemed to mysteriously die. anyways, this acted as a quality item and i have been very impressed with not only its performance, but also ease of installation. great product.

Western Digital is pretty reputable. I've been using a WD drive for years. The one I was sent doesn't seem to be able to hold more than 1 partition in its partition table for more than a week, though. It also has a loose piece inside it (I don't know if that's standard or not, but that's the way it is). I wouldn't give it a 1 star rating, since I'm sure it's a problem with the unit and not with the line, but I can't give it any higher than 3.

Products sold by NCIXUS.com are covered under a limited 25-day DOA (dead-on-arrival) policy, from the original invoice date, and is subject to the following terms and conditions:
- ALL merchandise requires an RMA number (Return Merchandise Authorization) issued by NCIXUS.com for return. RMA numbers are valid for 7-days with a small leeway for shipping times. Merchandise returned to us without a valid RMA number will be refused and shipped back to the customer at the customer's expense. Please allow 5 to 10 business days for testing and refunds to be processed.
- Returned merchandise must NOT be physically damaged, including damage due to improper installation or overclocking. This includes any physical alteration to the product, modifications not approved by the manufacturer, bent pins, etc. No returns, refunds or exchanges for any special order products, Notebooks, PDAs, Televisions, Retail Box Software, OEM Software, Computer Games, Video Games, DVDs, CDs, or any products marked as "no returns" or carries a similar description on the products' page. All products are eligible for original manufacturer's warranties. Please contact the manufacturer directly. All fees, including "shipping and handling", insurance coverage fees, and "Rapid Replacement" fees are non-refundable.
- Returns MUST include all original parts and packing materials and an NCIXUS.com RMA number, or the return will be rejected. NCIXUS.com reserves the right to refuse any returns or refunds for merchandise. DOA items may be returned within 25 days of ordering and may be subject to a 15% restocking fee at the discretion of NCIXUS.com.
- LCD monitors and other products with LCD displays (i.e.: notebooks, cameras, etc.) adheres to the dead-pixel policy that been established by most of the manufacturers. Any product with an LCD screen must be a minimum of 7 (seven) dead LCD pixels to be considered defective (DOA). Please contact the manufacturer of the product for additional warranty information if you receive a product with less than 7 dead pixels.
All product warranty coverage after 25-days will be handled directly by the product manufacturer. NCIXUS.com reserves the right to refuse any returns or refunds for merchandise.
