it is too bad the given part number isn't the real one. NCIX instead sent me a 8164 because 8163 are very rare now. The only real downside to this is that the 8163 used to make very good Xbox drive replacement which was useful because the first Xboxes that shipped has a very bad DVD drive and would make plenty of disc reading errors.

This is a great product from a good reliable company. However, I'd consider waiting until the samsung dvd±rw goes in special for 35$, which is only 5$ more!

I have owned this thing for awhile now and it still works good. The only probably I have with it is that its alittle loud when loading, but its not too too bad.

No problem at all, it play anyking of media you insert as well scratched disks. Playing smothly any DVD movies, no problem with the compatibility.

Dvd roms are pretty much a must have on newer computers now. More and more games are comming out with dvd formats and if you have a nice monitor and video card its nice to watch dvds on your computer too. This drive plays dvds like its supose to and cds as well. Great price too.

I purchased this as a replacement for an older modle LG that was starting to die. The old drive also an LG performed well and was used heavily, proving the dependability of this line.

Overall a good dvd-rom drive and for the price an excellent buy. So if you like to watch movies on your computer this is a definite buy.

I must have bought at least 10 cd rom, cdrw, dvd rom and dvd writer over the years to build many computers, all of them were LG products and i never had a problem. So if your looking for reliabity and price LG is the way.

I have always found LG drives to be excellent. This one is no exception. Works great with file transfers, DVDs, music, ect. I have yet to find a fault. I actually ordered it for my brother, who needed a new drive to replace his dying drive. He is very happy with the new drive.

great drive with the cd and dvd rom. love the price (30 bucks) and you get a good product. very nice value and i definitely reccomend it to anyone looking to play dvds on their computer.

Products sold by NCIXUS.com are covered under a limited 25-day DOA (dead-on-arrival) policy, from the original invoice date, and is subject to the following terms and conditions:
- ALL merchandise requires an RMA number (Return Merchandise Authorization) issued by NCIXUS.com for return. RMA numbers are valid for 7-days with a small leeway for shipping times. Merchandise returned to us without a valid RMA number will be refused and shipped back to the customer at the customer's expense. Please allow 5 to 10 business days for testing and refunds to be processed.
- Returned merchandise must NOT be physically damaged, including damage due to improper installation or overclocking. This includes any physical alteration to the product, modifications not approved by the manufacturer, bent pins, etc. No returns, refunds or exchanges for any special order products, Notebooks, PDAs, Televisions, Retail Box Software, OEM Software, Computer Games, Video Games, DVDs, CDs, or any products marked as "no returns" or carries a similar description on the products' page. All products are eligible for original manufacturer's warranties. Please contact the manufacturer directly. All fees, including "shipping and handling", insurance coverage fees, and "Rapid Replacement" fees are non-refundable.
- Returns MUST include all original parts and packing materials and an NCIXUS.com RMA number, or the return will be rejected. NCIXUS.com reserves the right to refuse any returns or refunds for merchandise. DOA items may be returned within 25 days of ordering and may be subject to a 15% restocking fee at the discretion of NCIXUS.com.
- LCD monitors and other products with LCD displays (i.e.: notebooks, cameras, etc.) adheres to the dead-pixel policy that been established by most of the manufacturers. Any product with an LCD screen must be a minimum of 7 (seven) dead LCD pixels to be considered defective (DOA). Please contact the manufacturer of the product for additional warranty information if you receive a product with less than 7 dead pixels.
All product warranty coverage after 25-days will be handled directly by the product manufacturer. NCIXUS.com reserves the right to refuse any returns or refunds for merchandise.
