Class 1 Caller id works (under telus, calgary, alberta). The inf file (comes with the drivers) should be modified with proper cr, lf, date, time, nmbr, name values. I also deleted the "enabledistinctivering" HKR value from inf file.

Bought this for a friend who is still on dial-up internet. His old modem stopped working, and this one works like a charm in Windows XP Professional. Comes with a driver CD.

I bought this modem with my new PC, mostly because of the nostalgic factor of the fact that I grew up using modems to get around on BBS' and the internet. For less than $30, you are getting the ability to do that, and using a small program it is always nice to have the caller id box pop up on your computer so you don't have to look at your phones display. This modem wasn't recognized by an answering machine program that I am using, and defaults to some generic "compatible" modem, and doesn't exactly work perfectly with the program, but that is a minor quival. Overall this is a good deal.

Modems, as antiquated they may seem, are still necessary. Not everyone can afford a high-speed internet connection. There are more choices elsewhere than NCIX.

Seems to work well enough and what more can I ask from a modem. Price may be a little high but modem choices are limited.

This is pretty good when you take into account the price, or at least the price that i bought it for. I converted one of my 486dx machines into an answering machine and fax box and i use the modem as an interface for the phone line. It works flawlesly. I'm not too sure how this will perform when you start transmitting tcp/ip packets though.

Has worked well from day one, installed it and forgot about it. Seems to be well made. No drops or any other connection glitches.

I don't personally own this item but I have extendly tested and used it for a client. This modem works like a charm! Nothing hard to configure or all, and it's not some cheesy plastic and all, it "feels" like a good modem :)

As far as 56K modems can be good, this one is one of the best. I don't own one personally but have installed them in several machines and would recommend this modem for anyone with a dialup connection or in need of a good modem. Never had any problems with it and super easy install
