EK-Vardar is the industrial grade high-static pressure computer cooling fan, designed and built primarily for highest-performance computer liquid cooling systems. This product is the result of one year worth of development, CFD analysis, careful motor selection and anechoic chamber testing.

Dubbed Vardar, this family of cooling fans carry the name of a type of the cold northwesterly wind blowing from the mountains down to the valleys of Macedonia. It is a type of ravine wind, enhanced by a channelling effect while blowing down through the Moravia-Vardar gap, bringing cold conditions from the north to the Thessaloniki area of Greece. Most frequent during winter, it is blowing in the rear of a depression when atmospheric pressure over eastern Europe is higher than over the Aegean Sea.

The key characteristics of EK-Vardar fans are:

High-static pressure / low noise profile - unlike other general-purpose computer cooling fans, the EK-Vardar family of fans is built specifically for computer liquid cooling systems, namely radiator cooling. The 7-fin fan blade design is optimized for high pressure operation while maintaining the low noise profile throughout the whole operation range of the fan. Vardar's design and construction is also very suitable for high-performance heat-pipe air coolers.

The EK FF5-120 fan is designed for watercooling. It has a high static pressure and you can feel the air moving through the radiator. I use these with a h100i v2 cooler from corsair. It seems to be a good pairing. Temps have dropped significantly since replacing the stock fans that cam with the h100i. It is also quieter. I would definitely recommend these fans for people who watercool with AIO or custom loop. (Read More)

These fans (and indeed the whole lineup of these fans) are amazing. I run my FF5s on a 40-70% fan curve and they are barely audible over my other system fans at about four feet away. The vast majority of the time, my two fans between the radiator and the exhaust grille on the top of my Corsair Obsidian 750D case sit at the minimum 40% PWM value and spin at 1200 RPM, which makes them all but inaudible. Another awesome feature of these fans is that compared to the stock Corsair SP 120L fans that came with my H105, these actually move enough air at their minimum 1200 RPM speed that I can feel it pushing through, while the stock Corsair fans could only push the same amount of air at about 1500 RPM, all while being much louder and (in my personal opinion) not as aesthetically pleasing. These fans do begin to get noticeable around 2200 RPM and that is the max RPM for the F4 model, so that makes sense, but at 3000 RPM the fan can get pretty loud, but show me ANY other fan that isn't loud at 3000 RPM and I will eat my shorts.These fans (FF5 model) pull 0.47 Amps per unit, so I HIGHLY recommend you use a fan controller with supplemental power rather than a motherboard fan header if you plan on plugging more than two into a single power source. (Note: My two are on my CPU 2 header on my Z97-G45 Gaming motherboard and I have run them at full tilt to test if they would overload the header, but it worked properly. A general rule on the vast majority of motherboards is that a single fan header should support about 1 Amp of max load.) F1 draws 0.046 Amps z 0.55 Watts, F2 draws 0.061 Amps z 0.73 Watts, F3 draws 0.12 Amps z 1.44 Watts, F4 draws 0.18 Amps z 2.16 Watts, and the FF5 jumps dramatically to draw a massive .47 Amps z 5.64 Watts just for another 800 RPM over the F4s 2200 RPM. All in all, these fans are excellent, and I do believe that EK has a winner on their hands, now if NCIX could do a YouTube review, that would give these fans the attention they truly deserve.
