Pros Too many to list .. read the other reviews here...(I read a lot of negative reviews on newegg)....so I paid for the 1 year exchange warranty by NCIX ...and haven't had a single issue with the board ...even used the usb bios fash before I set it up ...100% flawless ....running Bios 3402 most current with no problems
Cons Ez tunning wizard in the Bios for overclock uses to much voltage ..but works every time
Summary In a Haf X advanced,,, it fits a Noctua NH-D 15 .. and zotac 1070 amp extreme in the 1st pcie x16 slot ......Real easy installation for everything ....but its tight ....
Pros - well built, feels heavy in hand.. big backplate for stability - nice aesthetics for my black and gold build - really great BIOS - dust covers are nice - 8 DIMM slots is a plus (video editing) - USB 3.1 a big 'futureproof' plus - 3x SLI ready - lots of on-board headers for extra case fans - M.2 slot for a NVME SSD
Cons - expensive? unless you price match - no RGB Aura header on the sabertooth
Summary Ive had ASUS motherboards for the last 3 builds, and am still very happy with their products.
The Sabertooth X99 is very well built and sturdy, with the TUF components for that military-grade longevity appeal, as well as a toned down color theme compared to some of the other gaming motherboards currently out there.
Still monkeying around with overclocking in the BIOS on this board but the UEFI is fantastic and easy to use. Quite impressed.
I basically only use the 2 PCI-E 16x on the motherboard, so to have the dust covers in place is a nice touch.
This board was built with a specialized 'overclocking' pin arrangement in the CPU slot, I suppose to utilize the extra 4pin power plug on the board next to the usual 8 pin CPU power cable.
8 DIMM slots with capability to use 4-channel memory .. I video edit and to have upwards of 128GB capacity of memory is practical (I installed 64) and right out of the gate the BIOS and Windows both recognized all of my memory without issue.
The backplate connections have 2x USB 3.1 slots for whenever were able to afford a USB 3.1 device .. capable of uber-speeds of transfer rate .. will be nice later on down the road,, ie futureproofed.
I am installing some case lighting and while doing some research found the Cablemod widebeam series of LED strips, and they have made a compatibility with ASUS' Aura system .. however ON THIS BOARD there is no such header.. its only on ASUS' other X99 boards .. oh well. Small inconvenience.
The board has up to 3 PCI-E x16 slots for maximum bandwidth (so long as your CPU supports 40 lanes) .. **HOWEVER** bear in mind that if you install a M.2 SSD, you end up sharing the bandwidth between it and the 3rd PCI-E 16x slot.... just something to think about.
Pros Very stable overclocking. Easy installation Dust covers very convenient Very customizable EFMI BIOS
Cons M.2 slot under dust cover.
Summary Overall I a quite please with this board. Asus as done a great job in design and functionality. When using a M.2 PCI SSD don't use the dusk cover. This will trap heat if SSD had a tendency to get hot some Samsung M.2 SSD will.
