Pros Lots of ports for attaching peripherals, state and boot codes display on it, nice red lights.
Cons At first boot it turns on, stays 5 seconds, then reboots :). Enough to panic you a bit, but since then is rock solid :). I guess normal first boot feature, as I read on other reviews.
Summary Put in a Enermax Ostrog GT case, PWM noctua fans for CPU and system. coupled with : i7 6700K, Gigabyte G1 GTX 1060 card, 32 GB Corsair vengeance 3000 MHz DDR4, 500 GB SSD wind nand 3D, 850 W XFX power supply.
System runs at 24-26 degrees C on average use, silent with 3 Noctua fans on, smart controlled by the MB.
The MB can control the speed of fans that are 3 pin connector too ! My case came with fans that are not PWM and I was able to set rules for load on that type of fan too via App center system information tool. Then switched to Noctua and never looking back :).
Tools to control and modify from Gigabyte are great for my needs. Install App center and other tools at their site - gives plenty of control.
Updated Bios from App center Bios app to the latest one that supports gen 7 CPUs, no issues there.
Memory timings and frequency are not perfectly detected, but with the XMP profile, it runs fine at 3000 MHz.
So far - great experience, hopefully is worry free product. Till now - does not disappoint.
And price is now way up, so another good feeling :)
btw, I read many bad reviews about this board, but mostly for version 1.0, glad that I ignored them, this (v1.1) is great.
Pros - DAC quality USB ports - Very good feature set
Cons - Poor positioning of HD Audio port - 2 NICs
Summary The board has a very strong feature set, with good components all around. The audio and LAN solutions are among the best for integrated solutions. If you want even better audio quality, there are dedicated USB ports with separate power oaths, isolating the port from noise.
The negatives are relatively minor. First, I couldn't actually connect my case's FP Audio as the cable was unable to reach the ports position in the bottom left corner of the board.
Next, 2 NICs (1x Intel GbE, 1x Killer e2200) are redundant to the point of being unnecessary. Effectively no one will team the ports, which means that this is an added cost. Now they're both good chipsets, so if one were to ever fail, the other will be perfectly serviceable.
Overall, the installation was simple, and I am content with this board.
Cons - Hard to get in BIOS when booting. - Softwares can be better, rather uninstall it when done with testing overclock.
Summary Very stable with my i7-6700k, no BSOD after 3 months at all despite of having set my CPU with bad paste and overheating (once properly applied it was even better). Tested with 32 gb of Corsair RAM, SLI PNY GTX-980 and HX1000i PSU.
Summary Good board. Booted up first try with no issues - quite boring really. Board looks good in my case. Hard gaming for past week without a single issue. Used 2 different power supplies - older OCZ 600W and 1 year old new corsair 850w and 2 installs to see if I can find any issues. None Flashed bios to F5 and no issues. Overclocked I7-6700K to 4500 for now without raising voltage. Flawless install. Only issue is rebate - cannot seem to find a way to claim my rebate for April 2016??
Pros Everything works great. The included adapter for the front panel connectors was really helpful for someone with big fingers like me.
Cons Only quirk and that's my personal preference is that the included data cables have a bright silver finish... not the prettiest Imo. Also the xmp profile reset after leaving the computer unplugged for a few hours, not a huge deal.
Pros - Flawless operations, no bugs or quirks. Everything works including XPM RAM profile - Mined shipped from NCIX with updated BIOS F2 pre-installed (at time of writing a newer BIOS v. F5 is out, but F2 is flawless for me so far, so no need to update it at this point) - Allows dual PCIe M.2 NVMe SSDs to run in RAID (3 GB/s Read & Write!)
* Again, dual PCIe M.2 NVMe SSDs in RAID - see benchmarks & review: http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Storage/Triple-M2-Samsung-950-Pro-Z170-PCIe-NVMe-RAID-Tested-Why-So-Snappy/Preliminary-Result)
Cons - Killer NIC requires windows drivers to work at all (fine if your build still uses a CD ROM). - Fan control is a bit limited
Summary Flawless operation. Dual PCIe M.2 NVMe SSDs in RAID (makes your SATA 3 SSD feel like an HHD).
Pros Z170 Overclocking Colors (for my build) M.2 USB C Red Track Lighting
BONUS: Track LED lighting on the mobo that is red (you can turn off)
AMAZING so far...
Cons Can turn off red track lighting but I wish you could change the colors like the more expensive Gigabyte boards Direct LED connectors to the MOBO such as on the ASUS mobos (but I mean this is a mid range mobo so not really a bad thing)
Not sure if Gigabyte support is the best
Summary Amazing motherboard all the features you would need!! Overclocked my CPU and memory easily on my k CPU
Summary Used this for my very first build, I thought the layout was very good, I was able to connect everything easily and that helped with cable management. The board feels very good and installed into case with no trouble. I put my build together and everything powered up nicely with no problems getting into bios or installing os. The bios is a little confusing to navigate but once once you get in and look around its not too bad. No regrets buying this board so far.
Pros Straightforward to deal with Nice colour scheme Decent price for up to date tech Appreciate the reinforcement
Cons None yet (but I've only been using it about 3 weeks)
Summary If you're a gamer, this strikes me as a great mobo, it's got everything you would possibly need, and comes with some nifty stuff for blizzards Heroes of the Storm (not tried it myself). The overclocking looks really simple, and that's what I'm off to try next. Grabbed it on sale for 220.
