Cons Fan's makes a whining noise when pushed at 40% or below
Summary I have two of these for 2 years and just purchased some more recently for my new build. After 2 years of abuse (I don't turn my PC off at night) they do not make more noise or anything than the ones I purchased last week. The fans are shockingly quiet for their price. the LED's look good. The only issue I have about this fan is I have an NZXT Sentry 3 Fan controller and they make a whine noise at 40% or below, this controller controls the fans via voltage, so this could be the issue that it doesn't like to run on low voltage. For the price I am yet to see better fans, and keep your eye out too, as sometimes coolermaster offers a $5 rebate on them bringing the price down to a mear $2.99
Summary They can be quite cheap (and I managed to snag some at half-off), the lighting effect is decent, and they do push a good amount of air through your tower. They are, however, quite loud, even at half-speed, and the intake fans on my rig are already starting to make additional noise, as if the bearings are having issues.
If you're throwing together a cheap build (as I did) they totally do the job, but they aren't for a high-end or silent builds. (I intend to swap them out and hang on to them as back-ups the next time better fans go on sale...)
Pros -Very cheap, but functional -Decent airflow -LEDs look nice
Cons -A tad loud
Summary Good fans by Cooler Master. Probably the best bang for your buck in terms of cooling solutions for your case. Though they are somewhat loud but for the price, it's expected. Creates decent airflow and the LEDs are quite nice.
Summary This fan pushes a lot of air, but it always runs at full power since it's a 3-pin. I would recommend using a fan controller or buying one if you don't already have one. I bought an inexpensive fan controller and turned down the speed. It still gives great air flow, but the noise is much less.
This may not be an issue if you keep your PC on the floor, mine is on my desk so the noise got very annoying.
Cons CHEAP PLASTIC SELF TAPPING SCREWS SUCK SCREWS A BIT SHORT LIGHT ISN'T BRIGHT AT ALL POWER CABLE COULD BE LONGER
Summary Fan was delivered quickly, bought two to add accents to my case and provide more airflow.
Fan housing is flimsy plastic and comes with self tapping screws which are quite short. Could not mount to the front of my Corsair case because screws are too short and drive bay is in the way from the inside. Need to source longer screws for front mounting.
Power cable is kind of short for larger cases, depending on where your power connectors are on your board, and how many fans you have.
Blows sufficient air. Light really isn't that bright, was hoping for a little more illumination from it.
All in all it's what it is for the price. Blows air, has a light on it.
Pros - Worth the price ———————————————————————————————————— - Vaut le coût
Cons - Kind of loud - Doesn't make much light ———————————————————————————————————— - Quand même bruillant - Ne fait presque pas de lumière
Summary Meh... Disappointing... It's really noisy especially when it's going faster and we can hardly see the lights... ———————————————————————————————————— Meh... Décevant... C'est quand même assez bruillant surtout quand il commence à aller vite et on voit à peine les lumières...
Pros Pushes air FAST, high quality, excellent durability, cheap price (compared to some other 120MM fans at least)
Cons None at all.
Summary I purchased one of these almost a month ago, and it works amazing. For this price you can't go wrong with it. Plus it's very durable, and pushes air very fast. It arrived very fast, 4 days is great. Affordable and fast shipping - exactly what I'd except from NCIX :D
Overall, 10/10. Plus the red LEDs on it looks pretty sweet.
Pros Looks great, very good air flow, fairly quiet
Cons None yet
Summary I bought 4 of these to put in my Zalman z11 case. 1 at the top, 1 at the back, 1 in the front and 1 on the bottom. 3 of them are connected to the motherboard and the 4th is connected with a molex due to my MB only having 3 fan plugs + 1 cpu fan header. (I have an old MB - MSI X58m. Yes, it's ancient. lol) Even with all of them at full speed they are pretty quiet. They may not be the most quiet fans around, but for the price these are awesome. The red leds are not that bright, but it still looks nice in the dark. I would recommend these fans to anyone looking for some good quality fans that push a lot of air.
Pros smoked/black color when idle, just enough light from LED during operation, decent airflow, comes with screws, 3-pin to molex/LP4 connector
Cons a little noisy at full speed, noticeable tick/clicking sound when undervolted
Summary I bought a couple of these to replace the aging yateloons in my computer case. The yates have been running almost 24/7 since the first day of build. There is physically nothing wrong with the yates as of the moment but I just needed these as spares just in case.
I have 6 yates as intake-exhaust fans in my case as well as 2 more strapped to a hyper 212. The 2 on the cpu cooler are controlled by the motherboard while the other 6 are on a thermaltake fan controller. I installed two just to test these out and those already made a noticeable INCREASE in fan noise. Airflow increase substantially as well but as of the moment, the yates are doing a good job keeping everything cool. At the lowest fan controller setting, CPU temps run in the high 30's to low 40's. (readings by CPUID HW monitor and speedfan). This is during normal usage)
Since these offer a substantial improvement in airflow over the yates, then I'm pretty sure they wil do a decent job later on. Like I said, these are just backups should any of the yates fail after 3 years of continuous operation
Summary These fans are a great added features to your computer. I personally think Cooler Master are among the best in lighting on they're fans, they generate a good distribution of the led on the fan which makes them look good.
Summary Really quiet fan, good air flow, nice looking red light (four of them). I expected the light show to be more pronounced, based on the picture, but it is actually quite understated - in the dark only the four light "threads" are visible, nothing else.
Summary Perform well and can push air. It's not the quietest fan, and there are other fans on the market that can perform better. However, for its price, it is a good buy and I would recommend it to others and am willing to buy it again.
Summary Great fan, running fast, quiet, under 10$ you cant go wrong. Fit well but the LED not so bright, you barely see trough glass and dont illuminate inside the case enough but the air get out very quickly.
Summary i bought these fans for side intakes on my case the cfm is great, if you dont mind noise they are incredibly loud, even though i always have them running at 50%
i recomend you go noctua or fractal design or silentX noctua isnt great with colours, but fractal design fans are a nice white if you need a red led fan with good cfm, then this is the fan for you, as long as noise isnt an issue
Pros Great speeds, and good at keeping my temps low. Red LED's look amazing inside the case.
Summary I bought 5 of these fans for my Cooler Master HAS 912 case. 2 replacing the default ones, and three more additional for the rest of the slots. Keeps my computer very cool, even under load they're not exceptionally loud, but I do have 5. Great product.
Pros Great price! Got mine for around $5. Draws-in lots of air.
Cons LOUD! LED is not very bright.
Summary This fan is probably 3 times louder than the fan that came with my Coolermaster case. I wish they made it with a 3-speed switch. I believe newer models have transparent light brown fins, so the LED appears brighter, but mine has black fins and the light is a little dim.
Pros nice looking produce a lot of air fit perfectly
Cons kind of lound
Summary In general, this is a pretty good fan. I got it for 6$ with a price match. Wroth it ! although, I wouldn't pay it at the regular price. It is good fan, it produces a lot of air for additional video card cooling, but it is kind of loud, so if you are looking for a quiet fan, I don't recommend this one.
Summary I was excited to receive these fans for my storm scout case, now I filled up all available fan mounts. But the noise is crazy I thought i installed it wrong. I was not expecting to be this noisy. But all in all good price for the fans $5 on price check.
Pros Drown out stock AMD CPU cpu cooler move a lot of air, high static pressure look good, provide case lighting
Cons loud, maybe, none really
Summary I got 5 of these for my HAF 922. Right now, I love them. They are loud, but they drown out the stock AMD cooler, so it's actually a plus. They also glow nicely, and look amazing at night. I'll be buying 2 green ones(Xbox 360 watercooling) and 5 to 7 more of these for water cooling my PC(CM Cosmos 2 case).
Pros Bright red led. Good airflow. Good price. Come with a 4pin molex to 3 pin male fan adapter.
Cons Kind of loud. Bit of a pain to install.
Summary Nice little fan. Doesn't do too bad a job of giving the interior of a case a nice glow. They're a bit louder than I would've liked. They came with a 4pin molex to 3 pin male fan adapter cable, which I wish I knew ahead of time since I ended up ordering one from ncix along with these :/. Oh well there goes a dollar and 9 cents. This is the first case fan I've installed, but it would seem to me to be a good idea to have the plastic screw holes pre-threaded instead of having to forcefully screw through the plastic. I just hope I have enough room to install the fan filters I bought for these.
Summary Nicely match a HAF case. You should actually fill your case of these since their LEDs are actually fairly weak (-1 star). Other than that, it pushes a great amount of air at a reasonable sound level.
Summary They look great in my HAF case!! The LED's don't overpower the other lighting, they're a nice compliment. They are a tad louder than the Yate Loons they replace, but being a gamer I don't notice it much. No issues with bearing problems that others are having.
Cons - Very, very noisy - Doesn't glow nearly enough - Silver screws provided, black ones woulda been nice and/or rubber mounts - No fan controller
Summary Coolermaster generally makes excellent products. I've used their fans before and was satisfied with them, had no issues and they were long-lasting. I decided to buy two of these for my case. However, they really disappointed me.
The red glow ended up being barely visible at all, it was almost useless. Also, they made this horrible bearing noise that drove me nuts. Maybe rubber mounts would help, but as it is, I eventually decided to stop using them, as I couldn't bear the noise any longer. There isn't any fan controller on the fan itself and I don't have one installed to connect them to, which might also have resolved the issue.
Price was cheap and they provided good airflow, but I would never buy these again because of the noise issue.
Pros Price Matched Price Lovely Red LED Decent Acoustics Decent Airflow & Static Pressure
Cons None really
Summary For a price match of around $5 it's hard to beat this for value. Not the best airflow or static pressure, and not the quietest, but definitely decent for case fans. These are great if you do a lot of builds and need cheap effective fans.
The red LEDs are lovely, and for those clients that don't like them, well a simple snip or removal of the 'bridge' in the centre of the fan takes care of it.
Pros performance, reliability, low noise, high air flow
Summary For the money this is the best fan i have used, I bought lots of these from Coolermaster both very quiet and these over the years. Unlike my Antec try cool, kaze and a few others, all of my CoolersMs are still working, even the ones from 6 years ago even after years of water cooling abuse. They are a lil bit noisier than the old 900-1000rpms but als flow twice the air. Awesome.
Cons Incredibly annoying bearing noise within a few hours of use on two of the three I purchased.
Summary I picked up three of these in order to match my black/red LED build I have. At first, they worked very well, and the majority of the noise created is just air being pushed, which isn't annoying at all. However, two of the three fans' bearings have already started making horrible rattling sounds whenever they spin. I know it's not because it's undervolted too, as I have them plugged in directly to the power supply. This may be due to the fact that sleeve bearings only work well if you have them installed vertically (I have them horizontal in my build), but still, just a few hours and it has already started dying is pretty lame.
Overall, if you are looking for a high CFM exhaust/intake fan, this works REALLY well. However, be sure to mount them vertically, as these don't like being horizontal at all.
Summary I have these in my NZXT vulcan as exhaust fans. They worked great for... 5 minutes. Now they are dying, they make horrible rattling noises. When i switch to my HAF X they will be becoming shrouds.
This review was modfied by poster @ 03-19-11 06:08 AM
Summary I was a little disappointed in this fan. It looks good, but the noise is more than I expected. It is only 19 db where the original in the Coolermaster case is 17. The original is whisper quiet, but is 1200rpm where this is 2000. Guess that makes the difference in noise.
Pros Quiet. Not loud at all. On top of that, it doesn't make noise.
Cons Not as bright as I expected. Nor is the requirement for posting a review. Any idiot can post a review, go ahead, read mine, the proof is in the pudding.
Summary It's a fan, what can you say? Very quiet, I don't even hear them compared to the previous CM 120mm fans I had. 90CFM? Probably, they do push a lot of air, which you can feel.
My only disappointment is in the brightness of the LED's. I should have known, they're red LED's, not that bright, go figure.
Although the "glow" is not exactly what I was looking for, I can't knock the performance, and silence, of these fans. Red LED's are not all that bright, that's just how it is. I ordered a set of red CCFL's to make up for it.
In the end, 5/5, I can't knock the fans for being red(I bought them), I'm very impressed by how quiet these fans are.
Seems my review for this fan is too short. What, it's a freakin fan!
Anyhow, my dog's names are Sadie(youngest), Chelsea(oldest) and Maggie(middle). They all love these fans because they aren't too loud, and they don't steal their dog bisquits.
Although I've tried to teach my two fans tricks, they have nothing on my dogs, who I've never taught ANY tricks.
I hope that meets all the requirements of posting a review, LMFAO!
Pros Solid Moves air nicely LEDs aren't overpowering
Cons packaged hardware is junk
Summary Bought a few of these to replace my aging thermaltake 120s. So far so good, all remain quiet, the red LEDs are not overpowering light my previous ones were. They move air as advertised. Nothing to complain about.... yet.
Summary Got one of these to pull on my CM hyper 212. I forgot to check temps with only one fan, but with 2 it's keeping my i7 950 down in temps, high 40's low 50's on max load. When I went to install this thing, I stripped 1 and almost stripped the other 3 screws. You have to push bloody hard on the things, the pre-drilled holes weren't threaded. Had to hacksaw a slit into the top of the stripped screw and use a flat headed screwdriver. Also a little loud, but I listen to music and turn my comp to sleep at night so it doesn't bother me.
Summary bought five of these for my thermaltake case to replace the radiator and must say these fans are quiet for how much wind they produce. i also changed one for the stock fan on my hyper 212 heatsink, way more quiet.
Summary If your going to put one of these fans in tucked deep in your system, then I would say its an ok buy. The price is right and it looks ok even if you cant turn off the light(the black body is very nice). If you are going to be putting more then 1 of these in your system or if you don't like to hear your fans then I don't recommend. On the other hand, even though these fans arn't expensive I wouldn't really recommend them anyways because Mine are already starting to go and when I thought they were loud before your in for a shock when you hear these guys start to blow!
Summary Bought this on sale over the weekend for $4.99. At $5, you can't really complain about this fan. The noise level was certainly acceptable by my standards, and it pushes a decent amount of air through as well.
