Summary I bought 5 of these about a year and a half ago befor the hhd market went crazy. Got them for 40$ a peice on sale. 1 was doa but the other 4 have run flawlessly. I have 3 in raid0 and the other one by its self in another build.Great price for the performace at the time i bought.
Pros Great brand high performance sata3 affordable drive to build a budget pc Very reliable drives lots of space for an internet browsing PC
Cons 1yr warranty
Summary This drive in a budget PC makes a great reliable system. Even with the 1yr warranty I recommend these drives over other brands. Customer service is awesome! Fast and cheap advanced RMA if there is ever a problem with the drive, but likely will never need it.
Summary Seagate is my favorite brand to use for economic builds. Honestly I have never had one fail on me yet and I've used probably about 100 on client builds or the years. What more you could ask for. Reliable at a good price.
Summary This hard disk has a compact design, which allows for better air flow and cooling from front case fans. Hard disks, being volatile used to have three to five year warranties, but now this one is sold with only a one year warranty, which reflects poorly on its reliability. That, and higher prices since the flood of the factories in Thailand, stop this drive from receiving full marks.
Pros Price is good, reliability is OK, and speed is not bad.
Cons Warranty just got axed.
Summary I've used dozens of these in budget builds. Great drives - never had a DOA one yet, and to be honest, actually haven't had one die on me either. Only problem is that the warranty on Seagate drives was cut short recently during the whole flood in Thailand thing. Oh well.
Pros It was cheap when I bought it 8 months ago, but it's now a bit overpriced. The drive is still running like a champ and I use it for many hours every day.
Cons Do not listen to the 6.0 gb per second specs on this. It's a complete bottle neck because Sata can transfer that fast but these types of drives only read and write at around 30mb per second if you're lucky.
Summary I always end up with a 5.9 base score on my Windows experience index because I buy these types of drives. I would recommend a solid state drive over these if you want a really nice build.
Summary I bought this hard drive some time ago as it was the best value I could get for a 500gb hard drive. It lasted me a couple years before one day it randomly failed and died on me. It was a great hard drive up until that point though.
Cons Too expensive at this point i got mine when it was 35$
Summary Works great never had a problem with it and i am going on two years with it now and i have a second one for school that i use when i am there. I prefer them over western digital in less your getting a 1tb drive or higher then i would go with WD
Pros -cheapest drive around at the time of purchase
Cons -other than the crazy price, no real cons to the drive itself
Summary Bought this drive for a light duty gaming build. Does the trick, 500gb is more than enough storage for the user. Worked well, transfer rates are nothing crazy but are acceptable. Pretty quiet hard drive, would order again.
Summary The price factor was a con, but since it's because of a natural disaster (flood in Thailand) that drove up the prices, I don't blame Seagate. Bought this for a business style desktop since the old one was still using IDE connectors haha.
EDIT: Bought a 2nd one for $77.49.

Summary I have used Seagate and WD HD's throughout my computer building. I have alaways preferred Seagate and have enjoyed the excellent factory warranty and service you recieve when dealing directly with them (should you ever nead to). Highly recommended.
Summary This hard drive was not my first choice, but given the high price of hard drives currently this is what seemed to fit the bill. So far it is working quite well and I have no complaints. There are no issues with speed and it is running very quietly. It fit perfectly into the case with no issues.
Summary Bought a few of these and never had a single issue with them. Normally you can get them around 39.99$ and they are pretty fast. I've always went with Seagate over WD for no reason, just a preference.
Pros sata3, it's the fastest HDD I've used and I can tell the difference with the file transfers and load times.
Cons The price was bad, but I got it when it was $10 more than now ($99)
Summary I am currently using this hard drive for my windows xp install because I have my eye on some SSD drives for Windows 7. The size is acceptable because I can install programs on my C drive without worrying about space.
Summary what can I say about hard disk drives? they're easy to install, they do what they are supposed to do, bought them on sale for a very good deal. I plan on using the 4 extras I bought to set up a virual environment for learnin about server administrations and what not.
Summary J'ai acheté ce disque dur pour un ordinateur que j'ai construit pour mon père. Il fait très bien le travail, il a une capacité et des performances suffisantes pour un ordinateur qui sert à faire de la bureautique et naviguer sur Internet.
Summary Write speed is quite a bit worse than read speed. Other than that, it is very quiet, quite flat (one disc only) and all-in-all a very good disk. I am using it as a system disk and seems fast enough booting up.
Summary This is a decent storage drive. It's not a very good OS drive as it took 30+ seconds for my computer to boot into windows now with a SSD it's at 7 sec. I've had it for 2 years and the SMART say's it will last another 2 so 4 years isn't that bad.
Summary 500gb was more than enough for the build I was using for this budget build. Tho the $/gb isn't as impressive as other drives, its important to note that this isn't a green drive and has slightly higher curve in performance, which I prefer in an OS drive.
