Since the release of our first mouse, we have been using Japanese-inspiration in our naming of them. Our mice are built for performance and tournament-style play; Ikari means anger, Xai means talent, and the list of product names goes on. The Sensei is our version of the grand-master in our Do Jo. It is the teacher. The Sensei [RAW] is that master in his pure and focused form. With tournament grade components and focused intent, the Sensei [RAW] is the essence of performance delivering only what you need to eliminate your challengers.
WINNING, IT’S THE WAY OF THE SENSEI
The SteelSeries [RAW] is the purified form of the original SteelSeries Sensei. It is is the essence of performance and embodies everything we ever learned about mice, everything we ever researched, everything we ever discovered, everything that makes a mouse great, is exactly what we built the SteelSeries Sensei mice around. The DNA of Sensei is programmed to win. These are those rare hardware products forged by love and science, trial and error, passion from professional gamers and a desire to push the envelope. SteelSeries Sensei mice were born for tournament victory; they are built to help you win.
Rubberized Vs. Glossy

DEVELOPED WITH THE BEST
We are proud to be associated with some of the best players in the world of eSports. We maintain strong relationships and have continuous dialogue with teams like SK Gaming, Fnatic, Evil Geniuses, Natus Vincere and others who help in the development and improvement of our products.
To ensure maximum performance in all gaming scenarios we enlisted help from world-class StarCraft® II, Counter-Strike®, DotA, League of Legends®, Heroes of Newerth® WarCraft® III and Doom® players. Click on the picture below for a list of the players who helped us with testing and refinement of the Sensei. We owe them a lot of thanks, Sensei [RAW] has the same performance as the original Master – so if you like the Sensei these are the players who helped make it happen.
LIGHT ‘EM UP
The brilliant white illumination is capable of several modes of operation including: solid, slow, medium, and fast pulse. You can also vary the intensity of the illumination between low, medium, and high. For those of you who don’t like glowing shiny stuff on your desktop, you can completely switch off all illumination.
It also brings a very real benefit to users who utilize multiple profiles: by giving them brightnesses, you can quickly switch between profiles and also ways know which profile is active.
GLIDE LIKE THE WIND
Material: High Performance PTFE material covers 16 % of mouse bottom to ensure maximum glide. We recommend changing glides regularly as they will eventually be worn down.
Thanks to the support of the SteelSeries Engine software, you can record even extremely long and advanced macros to the Sensei [RAW]. The macros can not only be layered and can include keystrokes and precise timing, but they can span across your peripherals allowing you to have a mouse button assigned to perform keyboard strokes and mouse clicks in the same macro. How you will decide to use this advanced feature is up to you (choose your configurations wisely and adhere to any rules that you may need to abide by during gameplay); we are only presenting you with the capabilities for endless possibilities.

Finally had to replace my worn out Logitech G5. It's hard to find a mouse that has a normal shape these days! The Sensei RAW fits the bill now that the Xai is apparently gone. Overall a good mouse. Most of this review will be a comparison between the 2, but reading between the lines hopefully gives you some helpful info.

Pros Feels great. Glossy and very smooth. LED actually looks pretty good. I thought it was a sticker at first because the viewing angle is so wide. Has a normal shape, unlike those weird square mice Logitech is pumping out. Very reasonable price compared to $80+ stuff from other brands. Would have paid that for a Xai, but this seems to be the lower end replacement.
Cons Why does it have pinky buttons? Awful placement... Isn't this based off an MLG mouse? no FPS game needs 9 buttons. 5 is perfect. wait, mlg is dota and lol these days, so nevermind...
Click is rather loud.
Needs a weight cartridge.
Summary Finally had to replace my worn out Logitech G5. It's hard to find a mouse that has a normal shape these days! The Sensei RAW fits the bill now that the Xai is apparently gone. Overall a good mouse. Most of this review will be a comparison between the 2, but reading between the lines hopefully gives you some helpful info.
I purposely bought the glossy over the rubberized--I hated the rubberized portions of my G5. This mouse is totally smooth on top and feels very nice in your hand. The thumb and pinky areas are some sort of rubber, but it's not textured rubber, and feels almost the same as the glossy upper portion of the mouse. No complaints there.
The mouse is physically smaller than the G5 in every dimension. It's about 1/2 an inch shorter in length and perceptibly shorter in height. My hand and wrist can feel the difference (a bit of an ache after working on a research paper for several hrs straight last night), but I hope that goes away. I would prefer a bigger mouse personally, but the G5, MX500, MX518, etc. are no more.:( I do a palm/claw hybrid grip (wrist as pivot) and this mouse is great for that.
The mouse is light. Much lighter than an unloaded G5, let alone the setup I had with 8 4.5g cartridges. It's heavier than the IBM/Dell garbage you get in offices, however, so it's not something I am unable to live with. I just prefer a heavy mouse... Loved my MX700 with dual AAs.:) Why no weight cartridge?!
Scroll wheel is nice and quiet. No silly tilt mode. My 5 yr old G5's was hypersensitive (broken), which is what finally led me to replace it. Hope this one doesn't fail like that. Probably the first Logitech not to develop the double click thing haha.
The DPI switch is nice. I never had any use for multiple DPIs, partly due to the awkward way to engage them on Logitech mice. You could set the alt DPI mode to very low for precision sniping, or very high for guns or vehicles with sloppy controls.
LED effect is pretty cool and not as tacky as I expected. Cord is standard 6 ft and braided, like most gaming mice. Pro tip: plug your short mouse cord into your monitor's USB hub. Checked with dx mouse timer, and polling rate is still over 1000 hz.
Pros - Amazing gaming mouse - Good sensor - Cord that won't break - Relatively cheap for how good it is
Cons - No customizable colours for the lighting - Not as flashy as the SteelSeries Sensei - Attracts finger prints like no tommorow
Summary I Purchased one 3 weeks ago and it has been amazing for me, so I decided to buy another one once it was on sale. This mouse is virtually the SteelSeries Sensei, but without the fancy customizable colours. All in all its a great mouse worth the price that it is offered at!
Cons -Poor ergonomics -Small -Side buttons near the pinky finger can be easily pressed
Summary While the tracking of this mouse is excellent, the ergonomics of it is not. My wrist was sore after my first session with this mouse. Tried it several times afterwards result in soreness each time. Finally had to return it.
